NATURAL WO-MAN
“As the pre-fall ’12 collections kick into high gear, it’s clear
graphic styling, asymmetrical cuts, menswear inspiration and lots of
texture will be top footwear trends next season,” reported WWD.com.
Some lines even spelled it out: Donna Karan, for instance, called hers
“Wo-Man” emphasizing the masculine. Said the line sheet, “Back to the
beginning, and into the future, punctuating the masculine with the
feminine, empowering her unique wo-manhood with ease and
sophistication tailored to embrace the world.” Looking to the future,
“[it’s] shaping up to be another strong boot season, with
ankle-skimming cuts topping the list of chic must-haves.” Think:
oxford bootie meets cute slingback.

Brains Behind the Beauty | Troy Surratt’s Holiday Tips
Genius make-up artist Troy Surratt to create the 24K Champagne lip gloss and a set of 3 lip tins in sugary sweet flavors. Troy shares 5 surefire tips for a bright and flirty holiday season. Enjoy! xx
1. Give them lip. Nothing says glamour like a red lip for the holidays. Choose a classic red velvet lipstick or a cranberry stain. Add sparkle by layering Juicy’s 24K Couture Champagne gold lip-gloss—it gives your lips the same effect as twinkling lights on a tree.
2. Prepare to pucker. Don’t be caught under the mistletoe without glossed lips. Juicy Couture’s sheer, universal gloss tins are the perfect complement to every holiday celebration, adding soft sparkling shine and moisture to your Champagne kisses. Apply them with your fingers for a sheer finish or use a lip brush for more color and shine. And remember, a smile is the best cosmetic you can wear on your face.
3. Let it glow. Reflecting light on key points of the face gives the complexion an angelic candlelit glow. The trick is to apply shine strategically, rather than all over. Using a blush brush, dust champagne colored highlighter on the highest points of the cheekbones, down the center of your nose, and the tip of your chin. This will enhance your bone structure creating the illusion of supermodel genetics.
4. Bat an eye. Create perfect flirtatious, smudge-free lashes. First, curl your lashes so your eyes look larger and brighter (photos ops, people!). Then, apply mascara using a small brush so the mascara is carried evenly from roots to tips. Use a metal lash comb or a clean spoolie (mascara wand) to sweep through the lashes to evenly distribute any excess mascara. For extra festive lashes, apply knot-free individual lashed in short or medium lengths to the outer corner of the eyes. Start on the outer edge of the lash line and work inward to the center.
5. In the shadows. Whether you’re naughty or nice, trying to achieve a sexy smoky eye or a soft, minimal, angelic eye—skip the glitter! Save the glitter for homemade holiday cards and tree decorations. Gilding eyelids with subtly shimmery colors like Champagne, silver, or gold is a perfect way to bring light to your eyes. Gold adds warmth to darker skin tones and silver is cool which looks better on fair skin.

WIND CHILL FACTOR
Warm is the new cool: The turtleneck is making a comeback of sorts,
according to the New York Times, with a slew of fashion insiders and
celebs recently re-embracing this winter staple. (It’s even making
cover moves—most recently Madonna wore a Donna Karan one for her
Bazaar shoot.) “Designers like Donna Karan have often resurrected theclassic turtleneck, fashionable in the 1970s among the likes of Gloria Steinem and Diane Keaton.” Meanwhile, over on Style.com, the latter ispictured wearing a black one in a beauty icon retrospective. But, the Times posits today’s notables, like Gwyneth Paltrow, Rihanna, andAlexa Chung, might be incorporating it into their street style “as another way to deflect the prying eyes of the paparazzi.” That or it’sa great backup when you lose your scarf!

Clever Couture | Taking A New Brooch
We love when old is new again! Thanks to the Duchess of Cambridge, it seems the once saved for grandmothers and very special serious occasions accessory is making a major comeback. Case in point: Kate Middleton wearing Queen Elizabeth’s diamond-encrusted maple leaf brooch. Here, we offer a few modern styling suggestions. Go stick it!
1. Close that cardigan. Wondering how to keep all those loose-fitting, buttonless cashmere sweaters closed? Do it with a gem encrusted pin.
2. Make a cameo. If you’re lucky enough to unearth a cameo from your mother’s jewerly box or stumble across one in a vintage store, now would be the time to bust it out!
3. The more the merrier. Add a few to your lapel, or if you’re feeling a little more experimental, add them to the hip of military-inspired jacket—very Wallis Simpson.
4. Accessorize your accessories. Take your hat, scarf, shoes, gloves, fur wrap—and put a brooch on it. It will add a little extra sparkle to your cold weather days.

Clever Couture | 5 Brilliant Outerwear Styling Tips
Outerwear weather is in full effect and we need some help! We turned to Sonia Martin, VP Apparel Design, for advice on how to keep our coats interesting. We love her ideas—we think you will too. Enjoy, xx.
1. It’s all in the hardware. The quickest way to update that wow coat of last year is by changing the buttons. For an instant upgrade, switch up horn for gold, or switch out gold for domed vintage crest buttons for a military touch.
2. Let the coat do the talking. No need to upstage the main event. Keep it simple with a black turtleneck, opaque tights and chic shoes—effortlessly sexy, timeless and no need to bother with the coat check.
3. No fake boyfriends…If you want to wear a boyfriend fit blazer, be real, steal your boyfriend’s, or buy vintage. Whether shrunken, or long and lean, keep it narrow at the shoulder, and maybe switch out those buttons—it will keep it feeling modern.
4. If it’s BOLD, it’s beautiful. Whether it’s a generous splash of electric color or a clash of tartan against stripe, h ead-turning statement outerwear is what winter was made for.
5. Belt up! Wide, skinny, corset, leather, military, preppy, solid, fluro, ethnic or striped—you can do no wrong by putting a belt on it. The quickest way to take your outerwear up a notch.
Guest Couturist | Something Navy on Bowling & Sequins
1. What’s on your holiday wishlist?
I really want a bike! I’d love to have one in the city to ride to work and get some exercise. And, I think my new Juicy knee high boots would look totally chic on a bike.
2. Without ruining any surprises, what are some of your gift ideas?
This may sound a little cheesy, but I think when you create something on your own it means the most. I love getting cards, collages, paintings, poetry as gifts—it’s from the heart!
3. The holiday season can be notoriously rough. Do you have any survival tips?
Relax! Holidays are a time to enjoy with your family and loved ones. As far as fashion tips go, add a sequin piece to your holiday wardrobe—like my sequin mini skirt above.
4. What’s your favorite holiday tradition?
My sisters and I go bowling together. It’s so random but we started it way back and do it every holiday now!
We’re over the moon about our collaboration with Erickson Beamon… the pieces are fun, sparkly, and perfect for holiday. To spark our inspiration, we asked our favorite PR Girl (you might know her as @dkny,) for a little styling advice. She picked four of her favorite DKNY pieces for holiday, and paired them with four of her favorite Erickson Beamon for BaubleBar pieces. The result? Holiday dressing at its finest.
If Adam had given Eve jewelry, perhaps the world would be a different place. (I mean a girl does need her baubles). For holiday, I am loving anything with texture and shine. Ok duh, that’s probably an obvious choice, but sometimes we all need a refresher course in how good a little sparkle can be for the soul….

Guest Couturist | Runway Hippie’s Holiday Secrets
1. What’s on your holiday wish list?
Watches have made a big comeback in my wardrobe this year and I love this series of colorful timepieces! They’re just the thing I need to add some color to my wrist of silver and gold bracelets—and the fact that so many of my outfits consist of black and grey.
2. Without ruining any surprises, what are some of your gift ideas?
You can never go wrong with a sweater (or a bottle of wine!). As we approach the colder months I’d love to give some of my closest friends a chic, cozy sweater like this green one. Not only is it festive, but it’s also really warm!
3. The holiday season can be notoriously rough. Do you have any survival tips?
I have a tendency to turn into Will Ferrell from Elf during Christmastime, spending hours upon hours each day making sure everything sparkles and looks just right. So, this year my holiday survival tip is to remember to breathe as I’m putting ornaments on the Christmas tree, placing Nutcrackers on every mantle and putting the finishing touches on my Gingerbread house.
4. What’s your favorite holiday tradition?
My favorite holiday tradition is the Christmas Eve dinner my family hosts every year. Along with the most delectable feast, this dinner has become a tradition that includes some of my favorite people in the world. I look forward to (and talk about) this day year round.
Saucy Glossie | Caped Crusader
Fall is always full of weird transition days where it’s not quite cold enough for a heavy coat, but not quite warm enough for your summer clothes anymore. This is when it comes in handy to have something in your clothing arsenal to bridge that gap.
Enter the cape! It screams fall and has a such a cute cheeky little shape to it. Not to mention the camel color is one of the most chic colors you could ever wear. It’s classic, timeless, and pretty much goes with everything. I always picture wearing a cape with dark denim and boots, but I think it’s important to play around a bit and try mixing it with skirts or dresses… and of course, wearing socks with sandals is one of my favorite style statements this time of year!
These shots were taken in Central Park in an area that is right near my apartment. It’s become one of my favorite places to go and just enjoy the quiet nature while staring at the big city looming in the distance. An acorn fell and hit me on the head (true story) and I realized that even though the temperatures are still staying warm, fall is definitely here!
